About
I'm Alex, the man behind the brand. I thought I'd provide you with a little background.
My first foray into leatherworking stemmed from a desire to have something tangible to show for my efforts beyond PowerPoint presentations and Excel spreadsheets, so I bought some rudimentary tools and started out making (very rustic-looking) belts and wallets for friends and family at the kitchen table of my North London flat.
With each iteration and every mistake, my skills improved, and Slowhand slowly evolved from a pastime into an obsession.
Now based in the seaside town of Margate, rooted in a nostalgic love of 50s Americana, the clean lines of Scandinavian design, and a desire to own fewer, better things, my passion is to create handmade leather goods that last.
After all, it is only through years of use that leather reveals the true depths of its character, a patina that serves to remind us of the passing of time, important milestones and adventures lived along the way.
It's no good if it simply falls apart after six months.
And to ensure their longevity (in addition to offering a lifetime warranty), I want to make them the right way – by hand and from the best materials sourced from as close to home as possible.
